The department held a government hour on the topic of "Current issues of ensuring public safety."
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, over 11 million traffic violations have been prevented, and over 19,000 drunk drivers have been detained. To improve road safety, modern digital solutions are being actively implemented, including automatic speed cameras, mobile systems, and "covert" patrol systems.
The intelligent "Korgau" system has identified 48,600 administrative violations. Driverless vehicles are deployed on accident-prone road sections, recording over 4,000 violations. Average speed monitoring, implemented on eight highways, has significantly reduced accident rates on these sections.
"We will expand the use of digital technologies in road safety. This improves road safety and saves lives," noted Yerzhan Sadenov, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The implementation of intelligent systems and drones in road surveillance will be steadily expanded across all regions of the country. Despite the measures being taken, the traffic situation remains challenging. Speed limits are not observed (3,687 incidents), drivers take risks when overtaking on highways (349 incidents), and drivers fall asleep at the wheel (87 incidents).
The causes of accidents include poor transport discipline and driver training, illegal passenger transportation, the technical condition of the vehicle fleet, and road infrastructure. Both legislative and organizational measures are being taken to improve the situation.
Meanwhile, it's worth noting that users on social media are complaining en masse about "errors" in the speed-tracking system—they're receiving fines for violations they didn't commit. The cars were either not present at the designated location, or the speed was "recorded incorrectly."
