The e-government website Egov.kz has issued a warning to Kazakhstanis about scammers.
Recently, there has been an increase in cases where scammers pose as employees of postal services, banks, telecom operators, government agencies, technical support, or courier services and operate under the official number 1414, reports Zakon.kz .
"They're trying to get your personal data and access your phone. Fraudsters can call you via WhatsApp or a number—they ask for a code from an SMS, citing verification, a problem resolution, or delivery," Kazakhstanis are warned.
What is important to know:
— the code from SMS 1414 and the digital signature keys cannot be transferred to third parties;
— do not click on suspicious links;
— do not install third-party applications at the request of strangers;
— If in doubt, call the call center 1414.
Useful contacts: 1414 — call center; 102 — report fraud to the police.
"Important: We do not use business accounts or send messages to users via messengers (WhatsApp, Signal, Viber, etc.)," Egov.kz noted.
As a reminder, the PROFIT Security Day conference, dedicated to information security for business, will be held in Almaty on November 14.
